CLEP EXAMS

SSU is a certified testing site for the College Level Examination Program CLEP. Exams can earn the same credits equal to have taken and passed a college course. Amount of credit a student can earn on a CLEP exam varies with each college/university.

The minimum passing score is a 50. Some colleges/universities may require a higher score. Other agencies may place a limit on the total amount of credits earned through CLEP. The exams are for lower division credit.

Scheduling
Monday - Friday only
Proctoring Hours: 9am -  11am or 1pm - 3pm

-The CLEP at SSU is an 'on-demand' test set-up.
-Meaning examinees can schedule a proctoring session when ready to take exam.
-Provided there are open scheduling times during the work week.

Registration Procedures
-The registration for the CLEP is done beforehand.
-Examinees purchase CLEP exam beforehand through Collegeboard.
-CLEP exams are $87.

  1. Create an Account at CollegeBoard.org.
  2. Order and pay for the exam(s) online using Credit/Debit Card.
  3. Print out the Registration Receipt and bring to the Testing Center.
  4. Bring a form of ID, Driver’s License or Passport/Government issued ID, etc.
  5. Register for the CELP.

Proctoring Fee
-Sonoma State Proctoring Fee is $25.
-The SSU Testing Fee is separate than the actual cost of the CLEP exam.
-The SSU fee of $25 can be paid by credit card or debit card.
-Military Active are waived the SSU Proctoring Fee.

  1. Create an online Payment Profile with User Name and Password.
  2. Pay online with Credit/Debit Card for each session ahead of time or day of exam
  3. Bring receipt printout or show that on your smart phone the day of exam.
  4. Online Payment Setup

It is the responsibility of the Examinee to know what CLEP exam(s) they are to take.

Proctoring Procedures
Step 1:

-After ordering exam(s) with CollegeBoard, fill-out SSU Proctoring Session Request Form.
-Or contact Lu Vega directly to set up a date/time for taking the CLEP exam(s).
-Requests a date/time at least 3 days in advance.

Step 2:
-The day of the exam, report to the SSU International Hall 205.
-See Location link for campus map and directions to Testing Center.
-A $5/day Parking Permit is required during weekends.
-Purchase/print-out Permits beforehand: https://pmb.csustan.edu/dailypermits/#/permits
-Make sure you have a valid US issued ID with picture.

Step 3:
-Request special accommodations at least 2 weeks prior.
-Such notice will help to ensure availability.
-Proof of disability will be required.
